Nuns attempt ‘Carpool Karaoke’ but their funny outtakes are what steal the show (VIDEO)

The carpool karaoke trend is taking the church by storm. Is Cardinal Karaoke next?

Sisters from the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

After last week’s smash hit of priests and a bishop singing carpool karaoke, four nuns from the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus get together with an iPhone and some tunes for a “little road trip.” Now the finished, polished version of the nun carpool karaoke is pretty great—they sing a pretty great rendition of Ain’t No Mountain High Enough—but I have to say that the outtakes version is truly delightful. Sister Colleen cracks up when she greets Sister Virginia and forgets her name; they struggle with making the iPhone work (there is a looong nostril shot of Sister Colleen) and in general not exactly nailing their four-part harmonies.

Can Cardinals Karaoke be far behind? Who knows. But it’s wonderful to see the Sisters out and about in the world, singing R & B and hymns, talking about getting Dairy Queen, accidentally hanging up on each other and in general displaying the good spirits and camaraderie we’re sure they bring to their calling. For me, at least these videos make me want to take a road trip with a few friends and spiritual advisors and dial up a few tunes on the radio. And if we can’t hit the high notes? No problem. It’s always good for the outtake reel.
