Get the look: Kate Middleton’s stunning (sold-out!) red dress

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a scarlet Preen by Thorton Bregazzi design yesterday, which sold out within hours despite it’s $1700 tag. Here’s how you can still get the look.

What’s pretty, perfect and red all over? Duchess Kate’s spectacular Preen by Thorton Bregazzi dress. The enviable scarlet number, which Kate donned for a gala on day three of her royal tour of Canada, is already sold out in every last size. Even though the price tag was hefty ($1,700!) and the gala she attended at the Government House in Victoria was just yesterday. That’s some swift impulse purchasing, ladies.

But the so-called “Kate Effect” shopping flurry (when women everywhere rush to buy whatever she’s wearing) might make more sense once you’ve glimpsed the style icon‘s magnificent dress: The stretch crêpe dress regally balances boldness with modesty. With a glamorous color, asymmetrical neckline that falls slightly off the shoulder, cinched waist, and pleated midi skirt, it turned heads, but with a lady-like air. Kate completed the monochromatic look with a red Miu Miu clutch, red heels, pearl earrings, and a diamond maple leaf brooch, courtesy of her grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth.
