Prince William and Duchess Kate arrive in Canada en famille

Prince William and his wife Kate have started their very first Royal Tour with the full family in tow—and the adorable Prince George and Princess Charlotte are stealing the show.

On Saturday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Canada to start their eight-day tour. As the plane door opened, everyone was excited to catch a glimpse of the young family stepping off their 10-hour flight, and more importantly, to see how young George and Charlotte might have grown.

Although Kate looked stunning as she stepped out of the plane, we couldn’t help but be drawn to the two diminutive figures she was carefully helping down the stairs, along with husband Prince William. A confident blonde-haired Prince George, looking adorable in a shorts and socks combo, held his father’s hand as he progressed down the stairs. Proving a little challenging he reached out to his mother for a little extra help. Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte, in a pretty floral dress in the arms of the Duchess, gazed around as she took in what was going on.

The sight of the two young royals never fails to capture our hearts. But, as any parent knows, there are many challenges when traveling long-haul with young children, and despite their royal status, it must have been a struggle for the little prince and princess. Three-year-old George looked a little bemused and not quite his chirpy self; perhaps this is why he denied Canadian Prime Minister his high-five? However, after a little cajoling from both his parents George seemed to pick up and waved excitedly at a landing helicopter—a little reminder of his father’s occupation as a pilot on an air ambulance perhaps.

For Princess Charlotte’s first Royal Tour, she looked particularly sweet in matching blue shoes and a hair clip—co-ordinating beautifully with her big brother’s blue sweater, and Duchess Kate’s blue Jenny Packham dress. It is rare for others to upstage an impeccable Kate, but we feel her two little children might just manage it on this trip!

Soon, the tired toddlers were whisked away while William and Kate went on to meet with dignitaries. They also made time to lay a wreath for those killed in the Afghan war.

On Sunday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge very wisely left the children with their Spanish nanny to get over their long journey (and not to overexpose them to the limelight). Then it was business as usual for their parents as Kate, donning a Canada-red inspired Alexander McQueen dress, boarded a seaplane, helped by her very own chivalrous Prince, for a day of public engagements.
