Polka dots are a classic. They never really go out of season, but they’re definitely in right now and bolder than ever, but not just in fashion; the big round dots seem to have bounced their way into interiors, too. Liven up any wall with this easy-to-replicate do-it-yourself wall decal. The fun spots will add a touch of elegant nonchalance to any boring corner in your home.

Large black polka dots with flock texture are a great alternative to paint or wallpaper. I used adhesive flock paper instead of a stencil and paint, as the pattern is much easier to attach and remove that way. So go for it even if just for one season.

You will need:

black adhesive flock paper
a glass (with a bottom roughly the size of the dot you want)
a pencil
scissors

Using the glass draw the circles on the paper side of the flock foil. I used Pokal Ikea glass.

Cut out the dots using scissors adjusting the amount to the size of the wall. I made about 30 dots.

Step 3 (optional):

Create a large dot to cover the space around the light switch, but remember to cut out the shape of the switch inside the dot before attaching it to the wall.

Remove the paper and attach the dots to the wall at more or less equal intervals, but not too symmetrically. For additional effect you can add a few dots to the ceiling.
