The Screen Actors Guild Awards brought out plenty of actresses in dazzling silhouettes and sequins—but we think these ten elegant gowns won the Red Carpet.
Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife nominee for Outstanding Performance in a Drama Series, was a vision in a white Antonio Berardi column gown with symmetrical beaded floral detail along the bodice.
Diane Lane looked chic in a navy blue one-shoulder Angel Sanchez gown while entering the SAG Awards on Saturday evening. The Trumbo actress was there to celebrate the film’s nomination for Best Cast in a Motion Picture.
Kate Winslet chose a deep green Giorgio Armani gown that matched the color of her eyes perfectly. “I’ve never worn Armani before,” the mother of three said while walking the red carpet. The structured V-neck of her dress was similar to the lilac Zac Posen gown worn by Outstanding Female Actor winner Viola Davis.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Ellie Kemper wore a bright smile with her Peter Pilotto gown. “I love it,” the nominee for Outstanding Female Actor in a Comedy Series said of her patterned dress. “It’s cool and fresh. I feel ten years younger than I actually am. And ten times cooler than I actually am.”
Claire Danes The Homeland star was glowing in a two-tone blue Stella McCartney gown with plunging V-neck, complemented by a sparkling Tiffany & Co. bracelet. The 36-year-old mom showed off her bracelet to E! Red Carpet interviewer Giuliana Rancic, joking that it was a fierce accessory: “How cool is this bracelet? Don’t mess with me,” she said with a laugh.
Presenter Anna Faris reminded us of Grace Kelly in a ruby red high-neck Naeem Khan gown and a matching red Tyler Alexandra clutch. The Mom star swept her hair up in an elegant chignon to show off the gown’s low V back (shown here) which added a surprising visual element to a classic style.
Rachel McAdams looked lovely in an Elie Saab full-skirted gown with sparkling black bouquet embellishments. The Spotlight actress paired her choice with Brian Atwood shoes (though you can’t see them under that flowing hem)!
Helen Mirren sparkled in a pearl and silver long-sleeve gown from Jenny Packham with dazzling round earrings to match. The 70-year-old Woman in Gold nominee and Trumbo actress wasn’t the only one in sequins that night: she was joined by Alicia Vikander (coming up below!), Julianne Moore, Uzo Aduba, Nicole Kidman, Gaby Hoffman, Queen Latifah and more.
The winner of Female Actor in a Supporting Role for The Danish Girl, Alicia Vikander graced the stage in a head-to-toe sequin color-block and geometric gown. Though it was long-sleeved, this dazzling Louis Vuitton design also had a subtle side slit to show off a little skin.
Insurgent actress Naomi Watts was the epitome of understated elegance in this lace blue Burberry gown with a defined waist, and a small geometric red clutch (to match the red carpet, of course).
